What is Bonsai ?

Imagine tiny trees that look even more beautiful than those in nature. That’s what bonsai is all about! It’s like creating mini living sculptures but with trees and plants in small pots or container.

Bonsai isn’t just a hobby – it’s an art form that’s been around Japan for centuries.

It’s a perfect example of how the Japanese show love and respect for nature. They see beauty in these small, carefully tended plants.
Growing bonsai is way more involved than your average houseplant. It takes time, patience, and a lot of care. You have to commit to it, both physically and emotionally. It’s like having a tiny, living piece of art you nurture over the years.

The word “bonsai” first appeared in a poem in the mid-1300s. But people were growing these miniature trees even earlier—we can see them in picture scrolls from 1309! It became popular 300 years later, during Japan’s Edo period (1603-1867 for you history buffs).
